NOTICE IN TERMS OF REGULATION 34(1) OF THE REGULATIONS PRESCRIBING PROCEDURES REGARDING APPLICATION FOR, AND AMENDMENT, RENEWAL, TRANSFER AND CANCELLATION OF SPECTRUM LICENSES: COMMUNICATIONS ACT, 2009

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia, in terms of regulation 34(1) of the Regulations Prescribing Procedures Regarding Application for, and Amendment, Renewal, Transfer and Cancellation of Spectrum Licenses, published as General Notice No. 104, Government Gazette No. 6888, on 29 April 2019, hereby gives notice of the following decisions:

1. Application for withdrawal of Spectrum Licence

  • a) The Authority resolved to approve the withdrawal of the following Spectrum Licences awarded to Mwireless (Pty) Ltd , and recover the outstanding spectrum fees:

(29507.5 MHz (centre frequency) (Uplink) with bandwidth of 5 MHz; and 19707.5 MHz (centre frequency) (Downlink) with bandwidth of 5 MHz).

The full reasons for the decisions can be requested from the Authority. In terms of section 31 of the Communications Act, No.8 of 2009, the Authority may, on its own motion or on a petition filed by an aggrieved party to any proceedings, reconsider any order or decision that it has made, within 90 days from the date of this notice.

NOTICE IN TERMS OF REGULATION 32(1) OF THE REGULATIONS PRESCRIBING THE NATIONAL NUMBERING PLAN FOR USE IN THE PROVISION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES IN THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA, NUMBERING LICENCE FEES AND PROCEDURES FOR NUMBER LICENCES: COMMUNICATIONS ACT, 2009.

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia, in terms Regulation 32(1) of the Regulations prescribing the National Numbering Plan for use in the Provision of Telecommunications Services in the Republic of Namibia, Numbering Licence Fees and Procedures for Number Licences, published as General Notice No. 97, Government Gazette No. 5983, on 1 April 2016 (as amended), hereby gives notice of the following decisions:

COMMUNICATIONS REGULATORY AUTHORITY OF NAMIBIA

1. Application for Number Licenses

  • a) The Authority resolved to award Mobile Telecommunications Limited twelve (12) Number Licenses (Short Codes).

2. Application for withdrawal of Number Licences

  • a) The Authority resolved to approve the withdrawal of nineteen (19) Number Licenses (Short Codes) that were awarded to Mobile Telecommunications Limited .

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia, in terms of regulations 11 of the Regulations Regarding Licensing Procedures for Telecommunications and Broadcasting Service Licences, published in Government Gazette No. 4785, General Notice No. 272, dated 29 August 2011 (as amended), herewith gives notice that the Applicants referred to in the tables below has submitted applications for Service Licences:

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia, in terms of regulation 4(1) of the Regulations Prescribing Procedures Regarding Application for, and Amendment, Renewal, Transfer and Cancellation of Spectrum Licenses, published as General Notice No. 104, Government Gazette No. 6888, on 29 April 2019, herewith gives notice that the following radio frequency spectrum band under Frequency Band Plan is open for application to be conferred on a first-come-first-served basis:

NOTICE IN TERMS OF REGULATION 19(1) OF THE REGULATIONS REGARDING LICENSING PROCEDURES FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND BROADCASTING SERVICE LICENCES: COMMUNICATIONS ACT, 2009

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia, in terms Regulation 19(1) of the Regulations Regarding Licensing Procedures for Telecommunications and Broadcasting Service Licences, published in Government Gazette No. 4785, Notice No. 272, dated 29 August 2011 (as amended), hereby gives notice of the following decisions:

  1. Application for Telecommunications Service Licence
  • a) The Authority resolved to award Data Continuity Namibia (Pty) Ltd a Class Network Facilities Telecommunications Service License.
  1. Application for Extension of Period of Commencement
  • a) The Authority resolved to approve the extension of the period within which Virtua Porting XS (Pty) Ltd must commence utilisation of its Class Network Facilities Telecommunications Service Licence, for a period of six (6) months from the date of this Notice.

The above decisions are effective from date of this Notice.

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia in terms of Regulation 32(1) of the Regulations regarding the National Numbering Plan for Namibia for use in the provision of Telecommunications Services in the Republic of Namibia, Numbering Licence Fees and Procedures for Number Licences as published in Government Gazette No. 5983, General Notice No. 97 dated 01 April 2016, hereby gives notice of the following decisions:

1. Application for Designation of Short Code for Emergency and Public Services

  • a) The Authority resolved to designate short code 106 as an emergency number for reporting gender based violence in Namibia. All calls to this number will be routed by all licensees to the call centre of LifeLine/ChildLine Namibia, without a charge.

The above decision is effective from date of this Notice.
